Hi Everyone,

I just picked up a new Sako 85 Varmint Lam/stnlss in a 204 Ruger. I am looking at developing some loads for the upcoming spring gopher season.
I have read many posts on here with people sharing their best 204 loads, and it is sure great to see such a wealth of information.
But, I am hoping other Sako 85(or 75) varmint 204 owners out there might be able to offer me some "pet" loads that have shot great in there Sako 85 Varmint/hunter 204 ruger. I figure it makes sense to try and see what has worked for other owners of the same rifle, likely tooled (at least in part) in the same machines. Any and all pointers and advice is greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance!

I have only had my 204 Sako 85 VLS for a short while and so far I have found a max load of XBR 8208 with either 39gr SBKs or 35gr Bergers have shot a .5" group or better at 100yds. I have some Nosler Varmagedons on order and after the snow melts I will start working on a gopher load. I have a bunch of different powders to try but would like to stick with XBR 8208. If I run across any CFE 223 on my next road trip I will likely pick up a pound to experiment with.

I have a CZ in 204 and an HS Precison in 204 and these two rifles will both shoot the 39gr Sierra Blitzking bullet with 28gr of varget exceptionally well. Remington brass was used for this load.FS

My favorite 204 load includes 32gr Sierra BK`s and a top load of H322. I`m using H322 cause it meters consistently and gives me good accurate loads. I will be trying so 40 gr bullets this spring but the 32 gr. Sierras are a deadly bullet for gophers, and coyotes.
