I ended up with a Sako A1/AI in 17rem and the rear sight on the barrel was removed at some point in it's life and is no longer with it.
There is a single screw hole for it.
Anyone know the correct sight for the rifle, and if it was attached just by the screw or if it was soldered on.
Or, any aftermarket rear that'll work instead.

I'm not going to use it, but I'd like to have it.

ive got one man, its a .222, ill be home ina couple of days an can take photos.

i also tried to remove the rear sight......... but could only take off the blade, really.... the rest , for some reason or another (cant remembre otoh) gimme a few days an il touch base?

Yes, Sakos single rear hole is not uncommon but the screw was metric, not the more common #6-48 or #8-40. I personally would look for the latest version, similar if not identical to the ones used on the 75/85 series - they were by far the most attractive. Some of the early L461/AI sights were ugly by anyone’s standards.

You could try WGP, eBay, gunshows, or a WTB ad on here.

Have you considered just buying the detachable Sako produced peep sight that mounts on the rear dovetail? You may (or may not) have to adjust the height of the front sight to zero for elevation
