Sako A7 - first look

Well wholes still has them on for 679..... just because epps cranked up there prices, doesn't mean everyone has..... My local shop is putting some on for 599 in stainless this Saturday and giving out a free pair of burris binoculars (according to them a 200 value).... so there is apples to apples...

I'd buy a truckload....I've seen blued for those prices lots of places but never stainless.........that wasn't an Epp's price BTW....it was SIR....but I do see Wholesale has them on their website for $689 but I'd be interested to know if they'd sell you one for that price today......weird, just got a different SIR page and they are $739....

$599 for a stainless Tikka is whithout question the best deal in Canada right now for a centrefire rifle....regardless of the binos.

I just rechecked, 689 for standard calibers in synthetic stainless at wholesale, 739 at cabelas, again all stainless. Some of SIR/cabelas pricing seems to be all over, they change some and not others. You are looking at the camo stocked version, those are going for 899 at cabelas. I think 170 bucks for camo is kind of expensive, but to each their own.

Also, I noticed Delselins in the exchange forum has them on for 709 also. Check with Sako Alberta, I think it was him that said he could beat an price of wholesale.....don't quote me on that, but I thought I seen that. I would rather give my cash to the little guy.

You are correct..... the page that originally came up at SIR was $899 for black/stainless....weird......it looked totally different than the one that just loaded........but ya, $150 is too much for a camo stock....actually, $1.50 is too much for me. With all that said, the Sako is a different animal than the Tikka and priced accordingly....both are a great value imho.....

I still say the Tikka is the best value in centrefire rifles today and that the A7 is the best value there is in a serious mountain rifle today.

Well with my back, I will probably never see mountain hunting.... I am going to see if I can snag one of the tikka's for 599, they are limited numbers but at least I can get a free pair of bino's if I can get one.

As Sako pointed out, there is no better time to be buying guns at prices like that........they aren't going to get cheaper!

the A7 also has the 3 lug bolt ala Sako 75/85 correct?

Do any of the stores in Edmonton have one to check out?

I've got two 75's and an 85 but the A7 looks interesting.

Well, I am not a sheep hunter, but I still see a lot of merit in a nice light, quick pointing firearm in a medium sized flat-shooting caliber.

Agreed, and I see X-bolts going for the same price. Between the 2 I'd go with the A-7...

Which local BC shop is selling T3's for $599??? I was just in the market for a T3 Hunter stainless and I called all the local shops and everyone was saying they couldn't keep the T3's on the shelf.

Not sure on your definition of true but unlike the Tikka, the A7 does have two different lengths of actions....one for long-action calibres and one for short. It is a completely different bolt and action than the Tikka.
