Sako A7 - first look

Some guys must really like the A7's. We are down to a single calibre in stainless, 7/08(three in blued). We will have more coming late in January. Anybody wanting one can order at the current price of $1199 for the stainless but the ones we are bringing for inventory will be more expensive due to the dollar's fall.

Sakos are made of flimsy parts with stocks no one likes? Sakos have lovely stocks and do not seem flimsy to me. Light in a tikka doesnt necessarilry mean flimsy. I like the plastic clip on a Tikka and the guns seem to last through hard usage and are accurate for the price.

Hahaha! Mac, you will notice that I started this thread, as I just bought an A7 and gave a little review... I was being facetious, of course, as so many guys are posting how they just bought, or are trying to buy one! :)

We hear all kinds of disparaging remarks about the synthetic Tikkas and Sakos all the time, as being "plastic" etc... I have a T3 as well as the Sako now, and I like 'em!

yes you can; at least you can in the A7... and the single stack Tikka/Sako mags feed flawlessly in my experience. The only thing you can't do is top up from above.

sorry I didn't say it right, that's my beef, I can't topfeed the magazine.

I just wish it was a standard type of magazine.

meh, the whole reason for having magazines is so that you don't have to do that.... at least that's my take on it.
I always have at least one extra mag, or a few loose rounds handy to toss in singly if really needed... but the mag already holds 3, so no big deal to me.

Why would top loading a magazine matter....just pop it out and pop it back in...takes a couple seconds.

Sounds to me like you are inventing reasons not to like this gun......

I'm indifferent with your opinion.
I've roughed my T3 Synthetic stock up quite a bit, and for being a composite plastic, I'm quite happy.

The price point is just about amazing for any new hunter or new investment.

We just tried to order a bunch more A7 stainless. Only calibre we can get is .22/250. Only thing left in stock with us is 7/08 Rem and we'll have the .22/250's late in Jan. Still have the blued in .270 WSM and Win and .300 WSM. They must be selling well everywhere as our US distributor had 100's of each a few months ago.

Check out the wink after his post.....pretty sure his tongue was in his cheek! Sometimes humour just doesn't transcend the interweb!

Funny how things change in a year. I've seen A7's now listed for $800-$1000 which is only a few bucks over the T3 and likely well worth it...:)

I like the bigger opening. That small opening for the cartridge on the T3 really bugs me

The whole action is terrible looking. Basically a big block with an oval milled into it...mind you that wouldn't stop me from buying one if I needed one. But I'll pay the extra couple bucks for a ###y looking A7 action.
