Just wondering if the Stainless barrel on the Sako A7 is Matte(Dull) Or Gloss(Shiney)
Anybody out there that has one please let me know a.s.a.p. as I'm considering ordering one.

Thanks Guys!!

I been looking at one too, trying to figure out if they're really worth more than a Tikka and I haven't really convinced myself that they are yet. If I was going to buy one I still think I would spend a little more and get a Finnlight instead to be honest.

I don't think that's correct after googling for comparisons. i found a couple good shootouts between the t3 and a7 but they're on my work comuter (I have no idea how they got there)

Here's one good sting, not a whole lot of information but these guys are funny! And I think I recognize a couple names from this forum...

X2.... I own a model 75 Finnlight in .308 and love it! Bought it on here for 1200.00 and the round count was low. 40 rounds. **As new** Keep your eye's open you never know when a good deal is going to pop up.

Hey Wonksy. I think we have the same taste. Sellen the Whelen yet:nest:

bases are already installed on the Sako.....On the Tikka you can buy from the limited selection of rings that are available specifically for that receiver....unless they are all drilled and tapped then you can setup a weaver type base. (my LSA 65 is drilled and tapped).

Very quick to setup right out of the box.....I dont' think the barrels are the Same...you get the Sako 5 shot MOA garantee that you dont' get on the Tikka if that means anything. to me its worth spending a little more and it looks much better than a T3 but that's a personal choice (Ive owned both) .

I like the ability to unload while on safe that is not available on the Tikka....overall its basically a hybrid made from a Sako 85/75 and T3 and that's not a bad place to be.

see this comparison as it was the best I found when I was shopping last fall.

Agreed I think you've nailed the difference here between the T3 and the A7, but are those differences really worth the $400 to $500 difference in price IIRC? To jump up from the A7 to the Finnlight it's only roughly another $300-$400 from what I remember.
Ya... I'm not totally sure still. I do like the A7 because there isn't any plastic dust cover, safety tab or bolt locking tab too. I do like the weaver bases that come with it as well. If they could sell it for $900 I would say hands down it's a winner, but it's about $1300 which makes me hesitate.

Wow you have a really different position on a little bit. $400 is scope in my books. An A7 is very much worth it.

several Dealers have good prices on them if you look around, I got mine for 999$ from Mountain Man outdoors, Prophet River has some for a good prices.

When I looked at the T3 stainless synthetic there was not a big price difference. For 1300$ I would not bother.

I'm not afraid to pay upwards of $1000 for scopes that I do my main big game hunting with as I've seen the difference and can't go back! Don't get me wrong, a $400 scope can be good too, but once you've driven a Ferrari the Hondas don't stack up well. :D

I'll have to check that out. I do most of my shopping at TSE.

I have owned a miriad of different scopes, and have settled on Leupold VX III's and the FX series when it comes to hunting rifles. They are as good as it gets when it comes to quality, durability, and customer service.
And your paying as much as you are because you are shopping at TSE.

Agreed, and my most expensive scope is a Leupold VX-L which run around $1200 usually. I got it mainly because of the ability to mount a 50mm scope as low as a 36mm and the warranty, but the quality factored in too.
Lately though, I've really been impressed with the Trijicon Accupoint series of scopes and they cost the same or less as the Leupold, but give you a little more in the fibre optic/tritium crosshair, the same lifetime warranty (I'm told) and they are all 30mm tubes too. My next scope will be an accupoint for sure. They still cost right around the $1000 mark though along with the VXIIIs.

As far as shopping at TSE goes, I think you'll find that lately a lot of the prices are actually lower than WSS and others, and the service is head and shoulders above it too. That to me is worth paying slightly more on certain things, but YMMV of course.
