I have a Sako A7 and the stock is getting really sticky to the touch. Is this stock starting to peel like i have heard may eventually happen? I have had 3 of these stocks but only one feels like this. Ironically it is the one that gets used the least.

There soft touch is the same thing as browning and winchesters dura touch and look how that turned out.

Good luck dealing with Stoeger. Whereas browning has amazing customer service and will replace your faulty duratouch stock at anytime at their expense, Stoeger will tell you to go f yourself (if you get through to them. The guy is not calling you back).

I actually handled my A7 the other day.
It's probably a first year A7 as I've owned it for almost 10 years. It's incredibly sticky now.
Doesn't peel or have any noticeable marks but it's pretty tacky.
If it doesn't get any worse It's fine, But if it does I don't think I could use it.

Lol. Take it from me - don't use acetone to clean it - that little experiment cost me a new stock. Strong dish soap and really hot water helps quite a bit if you get a greasy solvent or bug spray on it.
Sako makes nice guns, but that A7 stock was all kinds of cheap IMO. The Hogue soft touch stocks are the same. A good idea, but they don't age well.

The entire stock is sticky. The surface layer is starting to come off in a few spots.
There is only one good fix for this, replace the stock.
The plastic compounds on the surface are breaking down.
I've got a B&C stock on a Remington and a Howa stock with similar issues.
You can get away with talcum powder for a season or two but it's has to be reapplied every outing.

If mine gets worse, I might try and clean it with degreaser (dawn soap) then clear coat it.
Might have to try and scuff it up if it doesn't dry the way I want it to before clear coat. I'll see after this deer season.

Update. Brought my A7 outside today to take a few shots. The stock is much worse now. Very tacky and it picked up a bunch of fuss from my gun case and looks like crap.
Sounds like Stoeger won't do much but I'm going to try them on Monday.
If they won't do anything I'm going to either have it hydrodipped or paint it myself. Going to just hunt with it as I left it too close to the hunt, still shoots moa so I'm not too worried.

For a last minute fix you can scrub it with a toothbrush and paste of water and baking soda. Made mine acceptable before browning replaced it. Try it with a small section and see if it helps. It can't make it worse.
