Sako a7 vs finnlight

Depends on you. I own the A7 and have been more than happy with it. I've have no concerns with the plastic mag/trigger guard or the 2 piece bolt as some others have expressed. I suppose if you are REALLY hard on your rifles this could be a disadvantage but I've never met anyone that treats a $2000 rifle that rough. I'm sure in handling both you would see some obvious quality differences but doubt you would notice much difference in performance.

Ya there likely is $650 difference between the two but are those differences worth it for your application is the question The A7 is great value IMHO.

Wang1, you nailed it. I have a Sako 85 and some T3s I use each equally. The only failure I can foresee is banging the trigger-guard (plastic) hard and cracking it. Hasn't happened yet. The plastic mags are surprisingly tough. Yes, expensive to replace, but, quieter than the metal mags. I find my .30-06 cartridges make noise in the '85 mags. T3 mags hold tight.
No experience with Sako a7 rifles, but similar mags to T3s.

I've had lots of t3 lites, 2 a7's and 1 finlight. IMO you should buy the t3 lite and forget the other two. The a7 doesn't have any "advantages" over the t3 in the real world and isn't free floated if you care about that. The finlight is over priced and you are essentially paying ~$2k after tax for a barreled action as the plastic stock is worth ~$50. If I'm spending 2k on a barreled action I'm buying a stiller, benchmark barrel, timney etc for the same or a bit more. If you are fond of $50 stocks, the EE is full of them from 700 takes offs that will fit. A few years ago (2 or 3 I can't remember), wss was selling a7 satinless with soft touch stock and a burris e1 3-9x40 for $1050. That was a good deal as I was able to sell the burris e1 and then the a7 ended up costing me what a t3 stainless would. Now they are charging $200 for the exact same combo. It's your money at the end of they day but if you want a light excellent rifle buy a t3 lite or spend a bit more and build one.

Don't have either, but I had a T3 & have a model 85 stainless synthetic in 338WM,
My 2 cents, the 85 is the way to go.
I can't see the 85 magazine making noise, the latch is about as good as it gets.
I like the double stack mag of the 85 and the fact that it exudes quality.

I have had two 85s, neither of which made any noise from the mags. They fit as tight as they can get If you can afford it, I would get the 85. You know you will enjoy it more:)

After reading the responses, I went and loaded 4 cartridges into my Sako 85 SS. No rattling until I close the bolt. I rotate the rifle tip down / tip up. With my ear to the magazine, it is definitely the cartridges. The magazine is tight. It is the cartridges that makes the noise sliding around inside. I agree, the mag. lock-up is great. I was puzzled by the rattling as well. Take out the mag. and the cartridges are tight. After insertion, they slide around. I cannot see any obvious defects. The ability to fill the magazine from the breech is a plus for me. In a scenario of grabbing the rifle from a case and loading it the quickest, the Sako wins (yes, I know one could have the T3 clip previously loaded). On the other hand, some folks say push feed actions do not have control of the round when loading. I have manipulated my T3 .270 at every angle, and with a swift shut, I cannot make the feed fail.
My summary is; all are accurate, reliable firearms. The Sako A7 is truly in between the 85 and the T3. There is no loser. Either choice will be satisfying. As far as the finnlight, hmmm. May depend upon your finances, but, the few more refinements the Sako offers will not disappoint.
