I have a Sako and a Tikka and I am thinking to get a Sako A7. I know all the differences between these 3 guns inside out.

Accuracy is the most important factor for me and I will appreicate comments from the owners of A7 about its accuracy.

Seen a post on Alberta Outdoorsman where a fellow purchased a used Sako A7 in 30-06. Posted pic withcheap Winchester Power Point ammo.....all shots touching one another.

Sako guarenteed acuuracy!!


My Sako m75 and Tikka T3 rilfes are the same and even better with my reloads.
 
Just tried a buddies A7 in 30-06 a week ago ... had no trouble ringing a 6" gong at 300 yds. from a rest with Federal factory ammo. Straight out of the box gun with a Burris 3-9Ballistic Plex on it.
 
I'm sure they shoot fine. I handled one at WSS and I have to say as big a Sako fan as I am, I didn't like the feel of it. I don't like T3's either though. It was nice & light. Plastic stocks just suck IMO.
 
Seems the OP doesn't much care about cosmetics ... he was interested in whether or not they shoot .... the A7 I was playing with certainly did. And I would add that Burris's "Ballistic Plex" aiming system worked like a charm ... sighted in at 100 with factory 165 gr. Federals, the second hatch mark down was right on the money at 300 !
 
They are crazy accurate, but the stock seems awfully flexible to me. I don't really like that, nor do I like the mag or plastic bolt shroud, but damn can they shoot. Every one I've seen is well under MOA over bags with a decent shooter.
 
Save yourself some money and get the Tikka. As you know, the only difference is one says Sako and one says Tikka, their even made in the same factory out of the same materials. The A7 is just a price point gun, made to get a Sako in peoples hands.

Your argument has logic....other than some subtle differences the A7 is basically a 'touched-up" Tikka in disguise. The individual looking for a specific quality standard should be better served by opting for the 85 in the first place.

IMHO, the A7 (despite the upgrades) will soon start to look feel like a Tikka once that novelty has worn off :). No offense implied here.

As basic hunting rifles, in terms of field performance and accuracy, I fail to see any major difference between a Tikka or Sako.
 
I got caught up in the Tikka craze when they first came out. Traded a 7mm Finnlight for a Laminate 270 WSM & S/S 22-250 & topped off with $. 270 shot awesome but left me cold (that's another craze IMO), the 22-250 was horrible for my standards. Needless to say I don't own any more T3's & miss my 7mm Finnlight dearly. Damn you WSS!!!!!
 
I have a Sako 75 in 270 Winchester and a Sako A7 in 270WSM. There is no comparison IMO. The Sako 75 is hands down a nicer gun.... However when I head out the door to go hunting these days its the A7 in my hands.... The Sako A7 is a much lighter gun and for me a whole lot nicer to carry all day...I have not had the opportunity to check out a new Sako 85 yet but the price tag on one puts them out of reach for me these days unfortunately...

Picked up an A7, blued syn, 7mm Rem Mag, today @ P&D. Bushnell 6500 2.5-16 with the new DOA reticle, in Burris Signature Z rings. Will do the photo's & range report thing in a day or 2. Have some 140g Game Kings for bulk load development blasters, and a box of 140 TTSX for when I get to fine tuning and business.

I am happy to report that, using my OAL length tool, a 140 TTSX loaded to the lands fits in the mag box. (I know, I want to be somewhat back from the lands with TTSX's my reading tells me, just commenting). I'll try OAL with a 168 Berger later, but already know it likely will not fit the box if loaded to the lands. The 140 is a very close fit, maybe .100 or even less from max length in mag.

With apologies to all of those who participated in my "6.5x55 or 25.06?" thread :p
