I have been using 30mm Leupold Ringmounts on my Sako AII action, but to mount a new scope I'm going to need a taller set. Is to Optilock system the only other alternative or does someone make a base for this action? Thanks.

Millett makes, or at least used to make, a set of rings for the Sako A actions. I had a couple of sets and preferred them to the original Sako rings because they gave me a little extra bit of eye relief, which I needed on the rifle/scope combinations that I was using (I have a long neck). I'm pretty sure that they were just the standard Millett rings, but they came with a pair of small adapters that sat between the rings and the grooved receiver. I installed them carefully, following the directions to the letter, and they gave me years of good service. I still have a set on a .222 Sako that haven't been removed in over twelve years, and they are still rock solid. Another set survived at least 9 or 10 years on a .375 Sako and went with the gun to a new owner who is also apparently happy with them. Much cheaper than Sako rings and at least as attractive.

On my Sako 75 in 7mm-08 I have Burris bases and rings. Front base uses standard dovetail front turn in and rear has windage adjustment. I have Burris Signature rings in high. Really good setup and signature rings are excellent.

Sako Ringmounts

The following manufacturers have bases and/or ringmounts for Sako rifles;
Optilock
Weaver
Leupold
Burris
Conetrol
Millet
Warne
There may be others.
Weaver is the cheapest, very reliable and possibly the most versitale because you can use Weaver style rings from various makers.
