Sako Brown Bear 450 Rigby

Just curious...would you please share the inside magazine length of your Brown Bear?
Thanks!
R.

When I get home tonight I will measure it, it is bloody long though, I can put the 500grainers anywhere I want and they fit in the mag box. I seated them for testing bottom of neck to try out, and with open sites standing, I put 4 of them at about 1.5 inchs at 75yards. So I would guess it shoots fairly well if a proper rest was used, and I tried a few different load combos. That was 100gr of 4831 and the first seating depth tried.

Internal mag length
3.7570 with calipers
22” barrel I find that perfect I would not want it longer. It points and handles perfectly

Thank you for that. And yes, that is quite long. This is a fixed mag, or a DM? Not sure if the BB was offered in DM in certain years, or not? Not a follower of the later model stuff!

Always fixed drop floor plate on these brown bears.
I believe all sako XL actions were floor plates(though not 100% sure)

Your .450 Rigby handload 100gr H4831 & 500gr: from Woodleigh data estimated muzzle speed ~1900 fps from 22" barrel.

My .458 WM at that level 1/3 less powder. https://i.imgur.com/9oN9b8O.jpg / https://i.imgur.com/usxnb4j.jpg / https://i.imgur.com/m64ZLLu.jpg / https://i.imgur.com/UNl9hRO.jpg

True, they are my reduced loads, lowest load that is in my books, wanted to start there, and then see where it goes. Looks like according to the book, I can put alot more in her and get alot more fps if I want too.

Nice to have the flexibility load it light or heavy whatever you like to do. With slow burn rate powders hang fires might be an issue if loads are reduced too much.

Surprised muzzle brake sure reduces felt recoil my .416 Weatherby 300gr @ 3000 fps mv kicks like my .308. Buddy fired it off the bench the way he was holding it he would've gotten magnum brow real good without the brake. ;)
