I just recently have been informed I will be coming into possession of a brand new in the box sako 85 brown bear in 338 win mag from a friend, I'm still debating if I really "need" it in my lineup and realistically if it will get much use among all my other rifles. If I don't decide to keep it what's a fair asking price given the condition? Doesn't seem to be too many of the around to compare with. Any help would be appreciated. And no i dont have it in yet so no pictures b4 someone asks

But seriously, a .338 Win Mag is as big a cartridge as you'll want for any of the big game critters in Canada - moose, elk, black - brown - polar bear, bison, musk ox or walrus. It is more than enough for deer, except it can be too much of a good thing on the shoulder. You might not need to go on such a hunt, but having one allows you to be a good friend in case someone more capable of such a hunt says something like, 'Man, I got invited to a moose hunt but I really don't have the right rifle. I guess I'm going to have to back out.'

Reviving this thread again. Watching the auction today and Sako’s sure don’t loose much ground when they leave the store! Which brought out a Sako I’ve had for a while and not for sale in the immediate future but a friend has been eyeing it over every visit.
Someone put some time into the L579/.308 as my limited knowledge of Sako and searching haven’t gotten anywhere.
Barrel has been partially spiralled and Ceracoated with an exceptional piece of unchecked walnut!
I have no idea if these added features add or distract from a Sako’s value. Any ballpark appraisals or comments are appreciated.
