Sako Build question

try your question in the gunsmithing section.

I think your action will be too short for the 338 Lapua. Its 3.60 to 3.525 in length .
Bolt face is also a lot bigger. I'm not sure it can be safely opened to Lapua size.
You can also try to contact Alberta Tactical Rifle on the board. HE has lot of experience dealing with big caliber

yes it's big ! Armtech is building one for me on his costum Gaulin action.

It will use a trg42 clip and action only will be 9 inches long

The Sako L61R or AV actions will not be long enough or have a large enough bolt face to build a 338 Lapua on.
Cheapest way to build a Lapua is on a CZ 550 purchased in 416 Rigby and then rebarreled.
Best way to go is with a custom action PGW, McBros, Nesika, Dakota , MRC or Gallin, all of which can be easily made to fit this caliber, unfortunately all are fairly spendy for cost of action

Thanks for the help guys I think I got a lead on a CZ 416 rigby action to start my build .So now this means I will now have 2 builds for Alberta Tach. A 338 lapua and a maybe a good 25 cal out of the Sako that I could use for antalope hunting like a 257 weatherby. All I know AT is going to get some cash out of me.
