Sako Carbonlite

I don't know, I thought it was extremely light. I have no problems carrying it through bush and through 2 or 2 1/2 feet of snow. I was also carrying a Sendero 300 win mag through bush when I was 12 lol so that's maybe why. We used to call the Sendero the crow bar. To each his own I suppose

It sure isn't a heavy rifle, but, it's 6.4-6.8 pounds depending on action size. A Kimber Montana in a short action is 5lbs 2oz for less money. The mountain ascent is less than 5lbs. Forbes ect. All around 5-5.5 lbs.

I hunt with rifles that weigh 9-10lbs scoped and loaded, so I know where you're coming from.

The ultra lights come into their own in the mountains where every once counts. Remember though, It's generally cheaper and more effective to cut pounds in your gut first.

It's definitely cheaper to lose weight lol 5 pounds!?!? That's insane. The kind of hunting I do i could carry one in each arm and never get tired lol I can't believe how light they are making them

Yes, Sakos do tend to be VERY accurate. And really, no one loves Sakos more than me .. but, I have sold most of my Sako collection.
Why? Because of a design problem that Sako was aware of 30 years ago and chose not to fix.

And now I'm just waiting for these $3000 rifles to arrive ... and have these keen new Sako owners start complaining about their 'ejection problems'.

*just shakes head*

My advice ..

If you really do want to buy a "mountain rifle", then buy a Kimber Montana. New: $1600. Used on EE: $1200.
And if you are not sure about its 'match-grade barrel', then buy and install a $500 custom barrel.

Yes, I used to own a Sako Finnlight. Then I traded it for a Kimber Montana. And I got a few $100 on the Trade-plus-Cash deal.
And I have no regrets.

Money in your pocket and meat in your freezer. Think about it.

I see Italian sporting goods in Vancouver has them listed on their site for 3499.99. If someone pulls the trigger on the 260rem. Please let us know how it performs!

I handled one and find the stock is just too long for me. Nice otherwise but a rifle needs to fit me perfectly if I'm going to dump that kind of money into it. I'm cursed with short arms.

Can anyone think of any reason that these rifles have a 14-1/2" length of pull? My Sako Bavarian Carbine also had a 14-1/2" length of pull, so I had the stock shortened to 13-3/4".

i thought it fit me well, I guess it is built for people with a stature common to the production companies surroundings.

I will buy one in future, handled the kimber at the same time and the sako with its detachable magazine is a clear winner to me

That extra long LOP also limits scope mounting options that will provide a proper eye relief .

I like the fact that in general, Euro makers have long LOP as standard. After years of growing up using standard north american short LOP and thinking that was a norm it was a refreshing change.

They fit me perfectly.
