I also prefer the look of the ring mount ones but you cant get them in the extra-low configuration.

I just purchased a new-to-me Sako 85 in 7mm-08 and havent mounted a scope yet. I've done a ton of reading on ring/base combinations for the Sako 85 and seem to think I'll go with the optilock system. The bases look a bit bulky to me but its probably cause I'm used to the Talleys on my other rifles.
Just have to get used to it I guess.

I know what you mean...the two piece base and ring Optiloks weigh about 8 ounces...that's half a pound...I'd rather use Millets.......if I couldn't get my hands on some Leupolds....

My fav setup is burris signature rings for the Sako. They are excellent, a couple of oz lighter than the optiloks and the rear base is a bit more friendly to scopes with large eye pieces.
 
I have the new Optilok rings installed on my custom Sako m75 rifle. My gunsmith had them and installed them for me. I was expecting the rings and base style but I like these ones.

Here is pic of the rings on my new rifle. They were stainless but now powdercoated gunmetal grey to match the scope.

And as mentioned, you cannot get these rings in the extra low mount-only with the rings and bases setup.

If you’re referring to the Controle ring setup. I purchased two sets directly from them. Gave them a call, he asked me what I was using as for a scope on what rifle and them mailed then to me. A little tricky to install but well worth the effort. PM me if you require more info...

I much prefer the Controle setup as it sets the scope nice and low to the barrel. Allot lower then the Optilock system , especially if you have a 40 to 42 mm obj. lens. I also have a set of extra low Optilock rings on another Sako 75 with a 50 mm scope and these work out perfect...

No, we've got a miscommunication here. Although I've tried the Conetrols that's not what I'm referring to.
