Sako Grey Wolf - opinions

Ok, that's the macho response we hear all the time.... and granted maybe some truth to it....but it doesn't take into account things like health/age issues, so it comes off a bit flippant. You're gonna get old too someday my friend! :)

But my original question was about the Grey Wolf in .308... I already have a light (7-08) sporter, and was thinking of adding a "nice" non-synthetic stocked hunting rifle in a similar caliber for moose. I also have a heavyish 300WM if I feel the need. The 85GW looked like something in between.

I think I should explain my prejudice for 'light' rifles. I once had a 30-06 husky mountain rifle that was given to me by a very dear friend. As you know it's a quality rifle and I was thankful for the gift however it was a very light gun without a recoil pad. This 'macho' guy (me) developed a flinch because of this set up - the combination of a decent 30 cal. with a light rifle wasn't a good combo for me which could explain my swing to smaller caliber rifles with heavier barrels of late.
Coincidentally, my same friend has a Sako Forester in 30-06 with a heavy barrel that comes up and shoots like a dream! It's a heavy bugger - certainly more than my 7-08 model 85, but I expect more weight with a heavier recoil rifle. To me, a heavier rifle especially in the barrel means more accuracy... There is a sweet spot there and going lighter isn't necessarily better in my opinion.
The Sako Greywolf is a striking, quality rifle and I considered before purchasing the hunter model - I am a wood slut, I admit it!

Thinking of one of these in .308....

Worth it or no? Go with the 22" barrel?

Lets hear your opinions good and bad please :)
I have a grey wolf in 7mm rem mag with a Zeiss conquest. It is just the right weight for the calibre.
I also prefer a detachable mag on a stainless rifle.

I also had a Grey Wolf in .308. It was supremely accurate, balanced and a real looker. It was however not a "snap shooter" as I shoulder carried it most of the time. I switched to a 20" T3 Lite Battue in .308 . It is an excellent shooter and it is always ready. I had a few pesos left over but I sure do miss the Sako quality.
