Anyone know if the Sako Grizzly is available yet? Seems like the perfect do-all rifle in 9.3x62!

Availlable, but the only one I saw in Canada was a Black Bear at Trade Ex, and it was 9.3 Sako. It sold pretty fast.

Im all for fluting on a stainless/synthetic if it floats your boat, but on a blued/walnut express style rifle it's just wrong.

Very much agree - with all that's on the barrel they should lose the fluting. With the short barrel fluting offers little weight diff/savings too I guess.

Local dealer said importer Stoeger had zero 9.3s in any Tikka/Sako models on order for Canada. Had some list he consulted. If he is right I don't expect any to turn up thru the usual channels. Order one and wait may be the only way to actually get one.

Why, you bought it?

Must be blind, I don't see what would tell me they don't have it anymore.

As for Tikka's in 9.3X62, I know at least one (I think two) T3 HB VARMINT and a pair of T3 synthetic Light here in Canada. I placed a special order through Stoeger for my 6.5X55 T3 Varmint very shortly after the introduction of the model, while it was not even though to be brought in Canada. It took over a year and a half to get it here, but it came. The 9.3X62s also came through special orders about four years ago or so, but they showed up much faster than mine.

My Brother and I each bought a T3 Lite Stainless 9.3 from Epps several years ago, my son swapped mine away from me and I found an unfired CZ 550 FS to replace it. Since then I have seen a couple of T3s like mine on Eastern gun shop websites, but they went fast so I think they are few and far between..

The thing was way too subtile for my eyes of yesterday.. ;)

Yes, I read this thread.
The main difference is the pressure rating of both rounds; the 9.3X66 Sako is rated at MAP of 4150 bar (60 191 PSI) which does reach '06 pressure range while the 9.3X62 is rated at 3900 bar (56 565 PSI). The slight case capacity increase is to get the little more pressure they needed over the 9.3X62.
In practice, there's no real difference between these, the 9.3X66 Sako is just the actualisation of the X62.
The 9.3X64 is another story, with a MAP of 4400 bar (63 816 PSI) which brings it into the high pressures of the Magnum range (pressure wise, of course).
Then, of course, there is a relation between the velocity increase rate and the pressure increase rate... from which we gain very little in increasing velocity compared to the pressure rise ...
