*** Sako Grizzly

Italian Sporting Goods in Vancouver had a couple when I was looking for one last year, I'm not sure if they still do or not. It looks like a nice rifle, although I ended up with a Mauser M12 instead.

I bought a Sako Grizzly last year from P & D. It was thousands of dollars less than the same rifle sold in the United States. I paid $2200.00 Canadian. At the same time, I saw it selling for $3500.00 USD on the internet. I never could figure out why P&D sold the rifle this cheap.

It is a stunning rifle. I used the Leopold QD scope mounts for it. The finish on the Leopold bases and rings match the Sako finish perfectly. If you buy the Sako, look at Leopold mounts.

I have a couple ordered from Stoeger (2016 pre-order) - only available in 308 or 30.06 (at least through Stoeger).

At the time of the order (early this month) the "projected" MSRP is about $2750 CDN for 2016.

I'm not sure what "currency" Stoeger uses to purchase from Sako/Tikka, but compared to many of the US sourced guns it doesn't appear to be the US buck (but don't know for sure), so price fluctuations may not be as wild as with US produced/sourced arms.

The (essentially) same rifle with a Black Synthetic stock (Black Bear - same two calibers only) should hit the shelves (if the prices hold) about $250 less than the Grizzly's.

How is the wood on it? Unless the wood is really nice as in all the marketing photos, I am not really sure why it would be so much more than a black bear.

Pics of your rifle would be awesome ;)

Man I got excited when I saw your post. Was about to hit "buy it now" on the Italian Sporting Goods site when I realized it was the rifle above the Grizzly. The Grizzlies themselves are sold out!!

Sako lists it as "high grade walnut" - plus it's checkered.

When you consider you would drop well over 3 bills on a "laminated" Boyd's stock with checkering a $250 difference between one stocked with recycled coke bottles and one with a solid chunk of checkered walnut just doesn't sound that bad to me.

even if it was Euro currency it went that high that it will cost that much for us ...

How many rounds have you put through the .375 while it wears the Leupold QD mounts? I had them on a .338 once and it would slowly tighten up as the round count increased until you could barely remove it with your fingers. Take it apart, remount and start over again. Really annoying and that was the last time I ever used one (about 20 years ago).
