This M78 is a very nice and not often seen rifle.

But it may not be new to the OP. On Dec. 30, 2018, RFC poster "robinpeck" posted on a thread about the same model a picture exactly the same as the first one here.
See https://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums//showthread.php?p=11291155

The same rifle has also been offered for trade here on CGN in 2019.

Rob has been posting pictures of that rifle for a long time... and when he does, it usually means it is going up in the EE... again. Same reason he keeps the "Mannlicher" thread alive in the Sporting Arms forum... his own private sales ad, which he bumps once a month.

Shouldn't mean anything to you as the OP. What you quoted above was not directed to you but to others. I was simply pointing out to posters in this thread who thought that you found this rifle recently and that your post was nothing more than showing it to other interested parties. That impression was not correct. But you can understand the potential for confusion as you didn't say anything about the rifle itself in the original post.

If you were interested in offering it up for trade or sale again, posting picture here would gin up interest in advance of a WTT or WTS ad, wouldn't it?

hey Rob, make darn sure to run an oily patch down the bore a couple of times per year to keep it rust free. I have inspected quite a few rifles for relatives and friends and it really was quite heartbreaking to observe badly pitted bores on many of them. these guns looked quite minty on the outside, but the condition of the barrel reduced the value of the firearm from collector grade to poor condition.
