I recently purchased a sako m78 in 22lr that has a heavy barrel. I think I may have over paid for this rifle but I really like it. It is in great shape and shoots great as well? Does anyone know a rough price for it?

Cant help you with the price but if it shoots good and you like it does it really matter?
I bought a cil 171 on a whim one year to do a restore on and after I was looking around online and in fact I did over pay but it shoots as good as my cz455 and I really like it so the price I paid dosnt really matter to me.

Over 800$ is over paid imo. But i know some people like to sell with emotional value and not always real value. The real people to blame are the buyers who dont mind to over pay because they really want it. You can see that ALOT on the EE...
But back to your m78. You have a greate rifle that will serve you wonderfully. Had one in LR sporter barrel and one in K-hornet. Loved them both.
