I have a Sako full wood carbine in .243 caliber and am unsure of the model. It is stamped AII before the serial number and the number is 3452XX followed by a
crown hallmark.Following the crown is a stylized "RV" in Capitals.
Any ideas as to the year and model of this rifle?

It's an AII (A2) Carbine with a Mannlicher style stock. Some refer to the L579 (forerunner to the AII) and AII's as Foresters. Early L579's were stamped FORESTER on the barrel.

AII's were made from 1977 until 1992 being replaced by the 91 series.

You're serial number puts it in the '77 to '81 time frame.

Thanks, Rembo, I appreciate. It has been stored and is in very good condition; any idea what it might be worth? It has a sako peep sight with 2 ranges that is finger tightened on the
rear dovetail.

Does it have a rear sight as well or just the peep? The Mannlicher stocked carbines are harder to find than the regular stocked ones. I have a few that I've bought from $600 to $1200 in the last few years. I've seen them advertised for up to $2000 on the EE. If it's all original and w/o seeing, I'd value one in original and very good condition at around $900-$1100

Post some quality pictures and an accurate firearms description. Is the bore bright and shiny and with no pitting, is the finish original and what percentage of blue is there? Many real clean guns that appear as new will rate 98%. Rifles of this quality may have some collector value added...

Many guys can't tell the difference between the original bluing and a high polish reblue... original is worth more.
