I was pretty bored so I thought I would show my new Quad Mount. I really like the Sako Quad but it always baffled me that they used a dove tail scope mount system for a rifle that can swap barrels. So I decided to rectify this problem. I ordered a US Optics Base from ATRS about a year ago and I finally got around to having it installed.

Looks great, much better.

I love mine in 22 mag .I don't plan on changing barrels so the dovetail suits me perfectly. And yes walnut would be a better choice but oh well.

dead meat: On a normal rimfire rifle, a dovetail is adequate as the scope stays on the rifle. With the Sako Quad, if you have multiple barrels you have two options to switch the barrel (I have all 4 barrels) you either mount the scope really high (like Xtra High dovetail rings) or you remove the scope. I like a low cheek weld but it is hard to index the dovetail to same spot (eye relief) and it also scratches up the receiver sliding a dovetail on and off as well, I couldn't find any quick release dovetails so I would need to always have an allen wrench. So I got Leupold QRW rings and a US Optics Rail for consistency and ease of use.

Dugasgunner: I posted a range report on this bad boy a while back (searchable) but it shoots very well. Is there a particular caliber you wanted to know about?

The 22LR barrel shoots quite well, the only beef I have had is that it won't always extract a live round from the chamber (i.e. when you are unloading) I think it is because of the tight chamber. Other than that it shoots really well. You can really see a difference in round ballistics at 100m with these calibers when you switch barrels. I had my rifle zeroed for the 17 HMR and then tried the 22LR afterwards and the amount of drop is pretty significant. Having 4 barrels is pretty cool, so many choices!
