Sako quality - fact or fiction?

I will only have an accuracy international or a DSR1 over a sako. That should tell you how high an esteem I hold them to. Finnlights in my opinion are quite possibly the best hunting rifle on the market. The only other being Steyr scout.

I've had two Sakos and the loan of a third to 'play' with. My 1st was a Mannlicher style carbine in 338WM, my 2nd which I still have, another Mannlicher style carbine, an A III in .270 Win. The 3rd was a custom job in 375 H&H. Generally speaking, I found the accuracy as good as any and the actions, just a little smoother than most. From my experiences with them, while a Sako isn't my #1 pick of the litter, it isn't too far from it.

I to have had a stock that broke after the horse rolled over it ..I am not a Kimber fan and there are a lot of used Coopers for sale makes me wounder. Sako is a sako and there is a reason most guys own more than one. Like my buddy buying a Dodge 0% and now it is the best of the best HA HA

fact or fiction? I vote pure fact! I love my Finnwolf and A7. I agree with your buddy, Guts-Glory-Ram, but I am looking a little at those blue oval Eco-Boost V6 ones:redface:. I do love my Chrysler Town & Country mini van.

Give it a rest now mrak. No more threats and other garbage.

"Threat-a declaration of an intention or determination to inflict punishment, injury, etc., in retaliation for, or conditionally upon, some action or course; menace:"

Once a Moderator has defined a post as a threat, do you actually wait for number two ?

wait for a 2015 for the ford, 700lb lighter aluminum body, stronger frame, LED lighting, etc, etc.

I'd save and buy a Sako before a lot of the brands constantly recommended in this section. The entire rifle is quality, not just one or two points like with other makes, but for the money is hard to beat.

I have rifles of higher and lower quality than the sako, lots of negatives of any brand come from people with no experience with that brand, Others are so naive that any other brand rifle than the one they have the most experience with is junk.

On the wood and laminate ones the whole rifle is quality. But the syntheic Sakos are a let down in my opinion. Pretty hard for a guy to drop $1800 on a Finnlight with it's cheap tubberwear stock when you can buy a Kimber, that is way lighter and has a way better stock, for less. A Finnlight with an Edge is an amazing combination, but having to drop $600+ on a stock for an $1800 rifle is ridiculous.

Personal preference. I like synthetic stocks for myself. The only wood stock gun I have is my nagant, and that is for novelty purposes. My hunting options are sako finnlight or steyr scout. Light, synthetic stock, accurate. Not everyone goes gaga over wood.

to me a synthetic stock serves a purpose, you want horrible looks, savage, ruger and a few other come to mind as being horrible, but even a sauer, blaser, merkel synthetic are not mind blowing IMO but will cost more than a wood stock sako. However if you like wood, sauer, blaser, heym and merkel are the brands that come to mind for me as good quality, some of which allow you to pic the raw wood and engraving as well. Kimber, sako, etc are much lower grade when it comes to wood stocks IMO.

I have a TRG and there really is no factory rifle with just as good of a package for the accuracy, looks, function, and finishing in the same price range.

Ive bought several used Sako rifles for the price of a new Tikka. I've had 8 or 10 now, and only one was new and was a finnlight for $1500. Not sure I would spend $2000 on one, never had to make that decision...:)

I'm not saying anything about the merits of wood or synthetic.

I'm saying the quality of Sako's synthetic stocks is poor. When I said you can buy a Kimber with a better stock I meant the Montana.

In what way?, I prefer the design and materials on the sako over the very basic look and feel of the kimber but personal preference doesn't mean the other is of lesser quality.

Sako synthetic stocks are injection molded plastic. Kimber is kevlar and carbon fibre. Surely it is a better material, but the palm swell and monte carlo of the Sako is what fits me best.

Regardless, I run McMillan stocks on mine so I get the Sako shape AND the carbon fibre...:D

Thanks two-dogs, but I'm going to pass on the X-bolt. I've handled and shot quite a few of them, and they turn me off in a visceral way.

I have two rifles on my want list already, so the Sako would be in third place on the purchasing roster... and that's barring any unforeseen object of lust that crosses my path LOL.

Those stocks fit me better than any other factory stock, particularly the mild monte carlo style combined with the palm swell.
