Sako Super Hammerhead

Has anyone tried this ammo? It’s actually pretty reasonably priced. I bought 3 boxes for a gun I don’t have yet. 30/06 180gr bonded bullet. Worst case scenario I might end up with some good brass.

Yes, I got two boxes of 300 WinMag and shot one in mu Blaser 93. Shoots 3/4MOA at 100 meters.

Bought several boxes of Sako 223 ammo, not overly accurate. 1"-1.25" groups from a Tikka t3 varmint, the brass seems good though.

On the scale of bonded bullets are these things more similar to Federal Fusions or say something like an Accubond? Do they have the penetration required for large cervids at range, like elk or moose?

These bullets would certainly penetrate. If you look at a cross-section of the bullet, it has a very thick jacket and bonded core. It will be a tough bullet for sure. I wish they offered them for reloading.

Just did a quick sight in of my new to me Kimber 84L Classic Select with the Sako Super Hammerheads. First 3 shots were about 3/4”. Moved the scope 1.5” left and shot another 3 shots in to 1.2”. Good enough for now with a 6X scope, and -18c.
