is the sako more accurate ? what are the pros and cons of each, im in camp in tuktoyaktuk for the next month, nothing to do here except contemplate new guns to buy , realy like the looks and feel of the tikka sporter but would prefer 260 cal, i traded my fave .223 savage hb varmit to a gf in a weak moment, need something that shoots better at 400 yards or she will kick my ass this summer, 22 250 is also a option, anyone have a tikka sporter ? what kind of groups are u getting ?, thanks

I handled both the TRG 308 and a T3 Sporter 6.5X55 this past weekend at a show. The TRG is awesome and would be a great piece of kit to have, but the T3 really impressed me with the ergonomics of the stock and the much lower price point too. It might be on the short list for future purchases!

I have both a Sako TRG 22 and a Tikka TRG both in .308. I have developed reasonable loads for them and I can achieve 1/2 MOA in both but definately more often with the Sako. During load development I noticed the groups were tighter on the Sako at all powder weights and seating depths. I am new to precision shooting (less than one year) and so my skill is holding me back from better results. The Sako is heavier and tougher to carry but my 6' - 3" 245 lb frame doesn't mind even when hunting - although in years the Tikka may become the field gun of choice (I don't hunt in areas that the guns would be beat up - I want the long shot to my game so jungles are off my "to-hunt-list").

I have been careful with my cash and so I can afford the luxury of the Sako - it is quite expensive; however I am very happy with both. My kids (13, 15 & 10) prefer the Tikka because of its weight and size.

Enjoy.

thanks guys, i have shot the sako trg .308 very nice accurate rifle, realy like the looks of the tikka sporter , and the stock fits me well, tried ordering the tikka sporter in 260 today will find out monday if my local dealer can source one.

I find that for the price of both of the rifle, the tikka are a very good quality for the price, both are very accurate, but having been tunning one of my tikka t3 varmint 308, I find that it shooting very consistent, and there is no need to mess around with the chamber, it come tight from the factory, as for the Sako trg for the price that is asking it quite high, accuracy is alright, it could be better for the price. A properly tune rem 700 with a quality barrel can easily out shoot an off the shell Sako trg, wheather is the Trg 22 or trg42.
