SAKO TRG in 338 Lapua

There is a couple at Wolverine Supplies In Virden, MB. They are at the top of the page in the Dealers. I seen them today at dinner so they have them forsure.

P&D has them as well. If they shoot anything like the TRG 22, it will be a keeper for sure.

There have been a few floating around on the EE. He may have better luck finding a Sako AV!!! Depending on if he wants to use a standarg mag case?? 300, or 340 weatherby

I have a TRG-S in .30-378 and man does the thing shoot!!! 200 gr Barnes at 3225 fps and will stay under an 1 MOA at 100, sometimes even better!!!

I think CZ is offering the 338 Lapua in a hunting configuration as well. That might be worth looking into. The TRG-S has been off the market for some time and used specimens could have a lot of wear.

I don't see any point getting a hunting rifle in this calibre. If one wanted a hunting rifle with serious knockdown power there are many cheaper, more readily available hunting calibres around like 338 win mag, 338 RUM...

I just think if someone was to get a rifle in this particular calibre you might as well get a rifle that will shoot to the potential that the round was designed for( long range shooting between the .308 and .50).

Ivo

PS I have a TRG 42 and have used it for hunting(even on antelope) but I have gone back to more traditional calibres lately(.308 and .300 Win Mag)
because the .338 Lapua is a little overkill for anything we hunt in Alberta. IMHO
