I recently got this rifle in a trade as a friend owed me some money, put a swarovski 3-12x50 on it, so it looks pretty hot right now . I would like to know if any out there reload for this rifle & what loads have been good in this gun . I reload for about 6 other cal's one being 338 win mag so I have lots of Noslers waiting for the Lapua could I get away with the 225's or is it more of a 250 gr type of rifle . I know what this cal can do with a 27 or 28 inch bbl but this is a hunting rifle with a 25 or 26 inch bbl.
Also looking for 338 Lapua brass

I have a Benelli SBE 1 wood stock for sale

I had a trg-s when they first came out in the mid 90's. It was a great gun and good value at the time. That particular gun liked a whole bunch of
VV N560 powder behind a 250g partition. It shot quite well, but i'll warn you, it kicked like a mule. That stock design is nasty when it comes to recoil. I ended up putting a good brake on it, and that helped considerably.:D

I've got one too! I really like these rifles, also have one in the lazzeroni firebird. I've put on a brake and changed the thin recoil pad to a nice decelerator. The twist is not ideal for 300gr bullets, IMHO 250's are the way to go. I've got 500 250gr SMK's and 5lbs of rl25, just need to get my a$$ in gear and shoot it.

Thanks for the input as I'm not shy of the recoil though I know what you mean as I shot the thing a bit before my friend had to give it up to me . Yes with out a brake it kind of sucks, but what kind of down range accuracy did you have with it 500-800 yards.

The old man has the same gun, right down to the 3-12 swaro. 250gr partitions weren't holding together that great, so he moved to barnes 225 xlc's when they still made them. A compressed load of 98.5grs of RL22 (no signs of excessive pressure, mind you) zipped those pills outta that 26" pipe at just over 3300fps! only ever recovered one out of a moose, broadside shoulder hit at 450 yds, totally intact and beautifully expanded...shot pretty good groups to IIRC

225 Accubonds and Reloader 25.

The Partition will work fine as well, but the Accubond has more of the good stuff at longer range.

stick with the 225 or 250 grain accubonds or Barnes 225 TTSX. you could give the 300 matchkings a try too, but I think that the older trgs had a 1-12.

Yes, they did have a 12 inch twist.

The 250gr Sceenar or 250 Match King are your best target bets.

Thanks again for any & all input on loads for the TRG-S-Lapua just got it back from the smith with a brand new brake hope this helps out saving the stock as it has been replaced once already. Looked into geting bottom metal & a new stock $$$ 295 for the metal & around 700 for a stock or do I just sell it & get another lapua ???? let me know what you guys all know & think.
