I picked this gun up today in 25-06. Its mid 90s, mint as can be with older glass but dialed in (I was told and will check). Excited to add 25-06 to the safe but I know little of this model except Sako is a great name. Anyone have any experience with them?

Not that rifle but I love the caliber. I've used mine for crow to groundhog to coyote and wolf to to wt deer and even a 300 lb class black bear. Shoots flat and hits harder than paper would suggest

I live in a caliber restricted area so the 25/06 gives me the most versatility for small game hunting in my home area with reach and punch for bigger game in other areas. I believe it's a better dual purpose varmint deer caliber than any of the 6 mm calibers. The quarter bores don't have the lime light or the high BC bullets of the 6.5s but comparing a 25/06 to the star 6.5 creedmore the little 25 has legs. You won't be disappointed. I use regular 117 gr Hornady btsp at 3100 fps and it's downright devastating on the deer I've shot with it. Even when I took a shot low and back on a nice 7 point whitetail he wobbled only 30-40 yards. I wanted a large tree for a backstop behind the deer as he was climbing a rise in the field about 210-220 yards away. Split the liver almost in half. Massive internal damage. It's the only animal to to remain standing after shot I can recall. It showed clear signs it was dead on his feet.
Load 75 gr Vmax for coyotes and the results are spectacular. I think you will enjoy the cartridge

Thanks for the reply. I also got 3 boxes of ammo with it but I will get some Hornady for deer season. I have larger cal guns in the safe but this is my first and probably only Sako so it'll be the go to this season.
