Hi all,

I'm new to pistols, I've only ever used a 1940's Colt 1911 and I loved it. I also love not spending huge amounts of money on something I wont get to use too much.

I like the very original look of some of the SAM arms 1911's, but I don't want to get into something that is total crap. Has anyone used these or can anyone comment on their quality? My other alternative is waiting until I can afford something higher end - but for my use, target shooting once a month maybe, is that really the way to go?

Thanks !!

they are hand fitted in a sweat shop (i kid..... or do i....) so what people have found is that they are tough to add anything after market onto them as you basically need to hand fit the new parts on if you go that route.
now me, i personally think you need to hand fit any part on a 1911 anyways so its not a big deal.

i run 2 of the SAM pistols and i think they are fantastic for the money.
i have the tactical one and the pimp one.
ive never had any issues with mine and they are still running flawlessly today as they did when i picked them up years ago.

I had a officers model while back, shot nice, fit was great, but indoor small range ,the noise and flame was something else. 3 1/2 in I think it was .

Buddy got a commander one and likes to dent brass, that's about it. I got a 9mm model and it was good value for the price. I just use it to test ammo now. Look around, sometimes you can find good deals. Like several months ago, I picked up a VG condition Used Springfield 1911 MC Operator, with a match barrel for 450$

Thanks okay - I think being that it'll be my first I'm going to go for it. Eventually I'd like to get an old 1940's Colt but for now I want to learn how to take care of it and shoot !

I also wonder if the gov will eventually ban purchase of pistols. I'd like to have one in the safe just incase.

I had one for a few years. It was nice and tight and shot very well. My only complaint is that it came with a rather week recoil spring, but that was easy to replace. Well worth the money.
