Not the 9mm Omega 6, but the 9mm Thunderbolt has a 2 stage.
The following is not directed at you Mark-II specifically, your phrase was just appropriate for me to comment on...
This, I think, is where the big misconception is. With respect, the connotation of the term "budget" is that it is not just priced lower, but also of lesser quality. “Budget” is a relative term and relative to what we are used to paying and used to getting in North America; it results in lower priced items appearing to be of lower quality. When in fact, quality-wise, SAM is on equal ground and in fact, better built than many of its rivals. The fact that it costs less for us to purchase than its competitors, is only a function of the cost to manufacture them in their country of origin. Relative to North America, their cost is less to manufacture the same or better quality product. Therefore they can sell equal or better quality for less. “You get what you pay for” holds true when manufacturers are on equal footing but in the global economy, that is no longer the case.
What may seem to be an "extravagant" feature for a NA built gun., may not be for SAM. No idea if in fact this feature exists. Others will chime in I'm sure.

No offense taken. What I was getting at is that importers seem to weigh heavily the cost/value equation when speccing out these pistols, since they are made to order and they try to hit that cost/feature sweet spot
It's different than with North American models where you cannot tweak what features you want unless you're a big dog like Lipsey's, for example. We get the sku that is made.
Wolverine tells SAM exactly how they want these guns built, while knowing that they have to tempt the cheap buggers that they know we are to buy SAM when we want a sub $1000 or sub $500 pistol
That's all I really meant regarding this 2 stage recoil system. That's generally only found in the shorty models, I thought, since it's necessary for reliable function. It just doesn't seem to make sense in a full size. Does anyone else use one in a full size 1911?

SAM are priced right where they should be in order to sell in the US under the ATI line, and here as well where we have a much smaller market. They are closer to Ruger in terms of quality where everything that can be cast or mimmed is. I'd put them well ahead of Norinco and Taurus for fit/finish/function, but that's about it. Once you get into the $1000 range, I'd be looking at a SIG or STI over the SAM line.
The Iver Johnson line is pretty gawdy looking....and really they are just a name these days as they import budget firearms and don't make anything.
Again, for the price SAM are pretty good, but no way are they Baer, WC, or even Colt level of quality.

And really, unless you are shooting competition, how good do you really need. SAM shoots better than most of us anyway. Lol. I am not too hoiti toiti to admit SAM is good enough for me. I don't need a big name to impress anyone. SAM is completely reliable. I pull it out, it goes bang. Every time. It does it's job, 100%. The rest is up to me.

The name means nothing to me, one way or the other, if it works as intended. I just want a Gold Cup / Hardballer clone - a GI gun with LPA/BoMar type sight. That seems to mean that I need a Colt or a Baer.... Or I swap GI controls and a spur hammer into one of these

Never fired? No, fired lots, broken in, extra value for you, trigger very smooth now, worth more because it saves you the ammo to break it in yourself. Lots of PMs on this, better hurry.
By the way, I have fire that SAM that Skinny refers to...built like a tank, rails very tight, took two of us to rack the slide!
Well after drinking the cool aid and putting in an order yesterday, I hurled the cool aid up this morning and cancelled the order.
Went to the 1911 forum and just read way too much negativity and hit and miss quality with regards to the SAM product.
I'm sure a lot of guys on here got some really good ones, but I will be sticking to the tried and true brands.

Wolverine stands behind their product, so it's not much a worry, really.
The only reason why I won't buy another one is because of aesthetics - I like blued guns, and SAMs matte bluing is fugly. Even a semi-polished brushed type finish, like the old norcs have, looks better to me.

I've seen posts of some people having issues fitting parts due to some out of spec issues in the past.
One plus is Wolverine is a stand up operation and if there are issues I'd imagine they would handle it to your satisfaction.
SAM's are for people that want to shoot the gun as is out of the box and have it look nicer then the price they paid.
If you get a lemon, return it just like any other lemon.
