SAM Handguns

You do not have to wait for your licence before you purchase. It is a licence to possess, no licence needed for purchase and ownership.

I'm in the same position as ROSSITER93. I've just sent my RPAL paperwork in. At the risk of sounding really stupid, can you please explain your reply? Are you saying I can buy before the RPAL comes in? If this is the case, what would happen after I made a purchase? Would you just hold it until I have my RPAL #?

Thanks, and I'm sorry if this is a stupid question.

I think you are correct.
Wolverine can't make the transfer if you do not have the license.
I don't think Wolverine can "sell" the gun to you before you have your RPAL number ready. It is more like putting down a deposit to hold the product.

There is no such thing as a stupid question. Think of it like this: I own a truck, registered to me, you borrow it to drive to town. You need the driving licence, correct? but I am still the owner.

You can purchase any firearm and become the legal owner of it but you can not take possession of it with out the correct licence. In theory you could purchase a machine gun but I doubt you would ever be able to take legal possession of her because our system would not grant you a licence.

While you are waiting for your PAL to be issued you can make a firearm purchase.

Ownership and possession are two different things. The PAL is a Possession and Acquisition Licence, no mention of ownership.

Yea, usually its no problem for someone to buy a gun in Canada before getting their license... and since you don't have the license you can't take possession or transport or store it yet, so the store or individual you are buying from continues possession/storage until you can.

Stores seem ok with it, since if your license doesn't come, they know they didnt really have a sale, they just refund you and put the gun back on display.

Thanks for the information Mr. Wolverine, Magictalent and RickR1100. I appreciate it!
Mr. Wolverine I'm going to send you an email

I had a blued long slide. I gave it to my son. That's a really nice pistol. I can borrow it back or I would get another one.

Resurrecting and old thread on SAM long slides.....any word on an all-blued model?

We have just received a shipment, only two models, a special commander on the short officers frame and a standard 1911, simply not enought intrest in any other models to make an order viable. Sorry no long slides. More details and photos to follow.
