hey guys im in the market for a nice 1911. not looking to spend 1000 bucks. i was on wolverine and a sam 1911 military caught my eye. for 440 it looks like a good deal. just woundering if these guns are even worth to buy. are they reliable and durable? looking at the 45 acp vershion.
thanks.

I have a SAM Commander and really like it, there are others who have them and so far there have been positive comments ( some problems with the first round feeding ). I think they are a good value and will take it to the range this weekend to fire off a few rounds.

They are well made pistol for the money. Check online reviews.
My opinion on SAM 1911s might be bias since we were both proudly Philippine made. ;)

i really like my 9mm military it shoots very well and the fit and finish far better than you might expect for the price range
well worth buying

I would recommend you look at the enhanced version as the upgrades are well worth it. I personally run the Thunderbolt and it has been flawless so far. I am biased however.

I think you will find everyone here says they are a great gun at a great price. Far far better than any Norinco I have seen.

Someone mentioned the M1911 forum and to look at the review. Ya pay attention to the dates of those reviews. 1994.. SAM completely changed their tooling since then.

I have shot well over 1000 rounds now. Very accurate and durable. Only problem is the mags shipped from Wolverine seem to have a problem when loaded with 8 rounds. Load them with 7 and they are fine.

Have you seen the new Norinco's?
Just like the old SAM's, they have improved.
Better steel, to begin with, and now with a "new and improved" trigger pull.

Not sure if they are "new" Norincos, but I have handled a few at local gun shops. All within the last 6 months.

The SAMs quality was far superior.

I will admit, that I have not shot a Norinco.

I just got a new Norc sport model, the trigger pull is 7 lbs, but surprisingly, it feels pretty good despite the pull weight. I'll see what I a trigger clean up and sear spring adjustment will do.

Just got back from the range with my SAM Commander put about 75 rounds through it,the only problem is with the first round not feeding reliably. Seven rounds in the mag. works fine so I now put one round in the mag. and chamber it switch on the safety then load 7 in the mag. I will review the other thread that had some tips on how to get the mag. to work properly.
I swapped the grips from my other 1911 to see how they look on the SAM and I think both guns look better.
