Anyone here own a SAM in 9 mm? Looking for a 1911 platform in 9 and their price looks appealing. Any actual owners have feedback to share? Leaning towards the commander sized model. Thx.

I picked up the full sized model for the wife, I got to take it out last week and it functioned just fine, only ran about 50 rounds through it but worked flawlessly. I'm not the greatest pistol shot but it was as accurate as I am with any other pistol I shoot. Trigger is a litle stiff but that would be my only complaint in the firing dept. In the build quality dept, holy hell it's tight, stripping to clean afterwards I had a little trouble getting the bushing out, but I guess that's not REALLY a bad thing.

The gf got a 9mm commander in stainless for Christmas. The fit and finish is amazing for the price point. No rough edges. Triggers not bad. I like hers so much I'm going to have to get myself one in .45

I got one of the Omega 6 versions in .40s&w, no complaints really, trigger is very good on mine.
I did replace the recoil spring as the one it came with was kind of light and dinky. I also replaced the firing pin as it was a bit soft. Could have lived with both those but they were very cheap upgrades.

I have a SAM Govt model in 9mm. Its a 1911, like my Kimber 45. Is it as well finished? Obviously not. Does it shoot well? Hell, yeah. You can upgrade as much as you like.

Here's a potentially dumb question, do the standard 1911 mags fit flush in the commander model or are the commander frames shorter?

I have a SAM Commander-E .45 and it is a great shooter, the fit and finish is top notch, I don't hesitate to recommend the SAM brand. Mine came with a fairly decent magazine (ACT) 8 round and they are available for $18 +TX + shipping.

Just pulled the trigger (haha) on a commander enhanced stainless from Wolverine. Thanks to all for the input.
Nice , I didn't realize they were back in stock.
Looks like the price may have gone up a bit but still pretty good value! I love the classic slide serrations that SAM uses.
It would look nice with an Ed Brown Stainless bob tail, some nice grips and an STI carbon fiber trigger.....

I haven't seen any of the recent ones, the couple I've handled we're a few years ago. If your willing to send one my way I'd be glad to change my opinion lol.

I'll send you a brand new one, with a thousand rds. of ammo, for $675, that will out-shoot any SAM, and have a better fit and finish.
