is there really any question? is the Kimber that much better to be worth the premium?

I've got a lead on a SS SAM Commander in 9mm vs. the Kimber SS ProCarry II which I just bumped into by accident.

the SAM is about 40% the cost of the Kimber though... ;)

Sam should be more than 60% cheaper than a Kimber. Kimbers are overated though

better choices are springfield RO, colt competition, STI Spartan

I own the kimber stainless gold match II, I see a lot of people saying that there over priced, but I've never had a single issue with mine and the fit an finish is excellent.

+1 Although the Kimbers look nicer, I faced the same decision a couple of years ago and went with STI one Spartan & one Trojan never happier..

SAM's are hand fitted, "custom production" guns.

Kimbers are higher quality, production guns. Not hand fitted though.

If you own a SAM for long enough, other production 1911's just look like guns put together by neanderthals. I wouldn't switch brands.

I've never had an issue with my SAM and the fit is excellent too. The finish is likely better on the Kimber but I don't think that is worth the price difference IMHO.

Problem is, aftermarket parts require more fitting, if they work at all too. If you are happy with what SAM offers then you are fine

SAMs are great, Kimbers are great. I think Kimbers are built to shoot tighter groups than SAMs and their stock trigger is much better than the SAM stock triggers. You can tune a SAM but you might as well buy the Kimber. Just saw the sale that SFRC had on Kimbers, can't beat those prices. I have a SAM and love it. There are better 1911s but not at SAM prices. trigger break crispness and group sizes are the two criteria I use to "grade" 1911s. Using this criteria, for me, Kimbers are better but I'm not getting rid of my SAM.

SAMs come with ACT mags, which are the same brand that DLASK ones are, DLASK stamped mags are made by ACT (that looks strange, should i really be posting at 340am???)

anyways, the ACT mags work good in the SAMS and they are cheap.

as for the guns i have both, a couple SAMs and a Kimber.
the SAMs are great for the price, love mine.
but at the end of the day the Kimber beats them in every way.

dont let the Kimber Haters scare you off, by far the best 1911 ive purchased out of the dozen or so i have.
