Sanding down a thick B&C stock -updated with progress pics pg2 - Thx Ian R!

The green tape is just masking to confine the areas. Personally I don't use masking tape as a general rule, I use plastic tape of various types. If masking tape is not removed before the epoxy hardens it will be a bugger to get off and will get bonded around the edges. Epoxy is the only way to go. There is absolutely no use for "fibreglass resin" or the proper name polyester resin. Useless crap that is only useful for making cheap boats and some Corvettes, the cars that is.

Stock is in high build primer right now. I have a bunch of pin holes that I need to fill then another prime and final paint I will post some pics when it's finished.

It is easiest to fill the pinholes before you sand the primer. Once you sand they are hard to see. I usually use my #1 digit for this, always seems to work the best. Wash off digit with acetone. This is not healthy, do as I say not as I do!! I really should not do this, the #1 is also used for trigger pulling and I would hate to lose that. Bugga.

So here are the pics from prime and paint. It turned out pretty good I think. I tried to replicate the stippled texture in the paint like McMillan does.

I recently worked on a Bell and Carlson stock and it is the last one I ever do. Terrible piece of crap. Not the correct depth in several places, nothing square with top and bottom metal. Barrel channel way off... Just garbage... I suggested the owner return it for a refund but he said he bought it as used on the EE. It had not been bedded however.
