Exactly! Just buy an ACR get it converted to non restricted and voila everyone's happy happy happy. I don't get why we even discuss the possibility of purchasing prohibited firearms here.

No, no and no. Seriously, no. If it wasn't for the efforts of a CGN member, these would still be in limbo hell. I'm not trying to be critical, but those of you who weren't involved in this SCAR fiasco really have no idea what went on with this rifle. To say it was a Gong Show would be a gross understatement.
Here's the short version: SOCOM funded it, and they own it. These were never supposed to be exported out of the US for commercial sales. Period. If you want one, be prepared to move to the US. Beyond that, buy an ACR.

Were you in a jurisdiction where you could buy either the SAPR hands down. its a better built rifle, it handles better, it is far easier to clean an field strip, and is designed to handle many more rounds without any malfunctions than the scar. The SCAR is a GREAT rifle, no question, the SAPR is just more user friendly so on that it wins. When comparing the FNC and Sig 550, the FNC wins for the same reasons the SAPR wins this time around. all are great rifles. For Canada , they are .....right now.....just a dream

Pretty sure I did. The US military can't even afford to fly the Blue Angels at air shows, so where do you see prioritizing development of a new commercial SCAR-L to satisfy the Canadian firearms market?

The XCR is expensive because the market here will bear it , no other reason. They don't sell for $2500 in the US.
As for quality, I had one, it was ok, but in no way is it any better than the Stag AR I had that was $1300.

I don't think you understand the tariffs that are on firearms in Canada, obviously they don't sell for 2500 in the US, they sell for 2000. It has nothing at all to do with markets, it has everything to do with firearms costing 20% more. Why is a tavor 2700 here and 2 grand in the states? Is it because of markets? No, it is because of the cost of importing. AR 15's are much cheaper because every single company on the face of the earth makes one, thus prices are lower. So at the end of the day a stag arms might be worth 1000 US, and an XCR is 2000 US. The fact that you think these are comparable quality is laughable.
