I checked and I couldn't find it on the prohibited list. It uses STANAG magazines, is 38 inches overall and 29 inches overall with the buttstock folded, but has an 18 inch barrel.

So if a semiauto-only version with an 18.5+ inch barrel was made, it would be non-restricted, right?

A limited number were manufactured in semi automatic only. A few of these made it to Canada. Value would be in the 5 digits. I don't ever remember seeing one for sale in the EE so you can bet only hard core collectors have them and won't be parting way with them any time soon.

There is at least one in the country in private hands that I am aware of. Restricted due to barrel length.

Are you guys mixing up the SAR80 with the SA80 perhaps?

There were a number of cadet SA80's imported as straight pulls and converted to semi auto after they were here...

Several of them were re-imported to the UK.
