My friend has family near Rosetown, Sask and he wants to go whitetailed deer hunting there this fall. He is an Alberta resident. What does he have to do to ensure he can hunt there? Does he need to be guided? I see the WTD tags are about $160 bucks but what else does he have to do.?thanks for helping with this.Randy

He needs to invite me along. We will have to go out in Oct. and shoot geese while scouting out deer locations. Then we may have to go back in an early Muzzleloader season (if there is one in the area). Then when the rifle season opens we will be good to go.

The first thing all non-resident hunters should do is check their own regs to see if they allow Saskatchewan residents to hunt in their own home province without guides. After that, if you can still hold your head up, I guess we won't stop you. This applies to birds, whitetail and bear.

Did that come off sounding bitter? Good.:runaway:

I grew up very near to Rosetown, he shouldn't have much trouble with access. Not much of the land is posted there unless you go east towards the Harris game preserve. If his family knows the area and the people in it he will be fine. Most of the posted stuff is even huntable with a phone call!!

Actually I wonder if he could get a muley tag?? There are tons of BIG muleys south of Rosetown. I was only able to get out for one day of muley season (stupid job) and that was the last one and the pic of mine is in the hunting forum...not bad for 4hrs hunting I guess. It was shot 20miles south straight south of Rosetown.
