Sask big game draw results are in!

Almost all antler less mule deer zones drew from the B and C pools in 2014. This being your first year you'd be in A pool so you getting drawn for that would be expected. That was a good draw for the elk however as most of the elk zones drew from super A. Do you mind if I ask what zones you put down.

19 and 34

If there are 100 tags in zone 42 and 200 people in Super A pool (with their first choice been 42), in theory you should have a 50% chance of been drawn. The problem is that the 50% chance repeats every year and you may not get drawn for a very long time, like flipping a coin does not always alternate between heads and tails. Some of these zones have 2000 people in super A (for 100-150 tags) although some of these people may be in super A in 5 different zones.

Got Either ### Mule Deer in Zone 19. A bit lucky with 5 Super A names fore every tag there! Was planning a fly in moose hunt to a lodge in 72, but thanks to the fires the whole area is gone.

If the zones you are entering are very popular and you only pick 1 zone choice, you can be waiting a long time. Filling in all 5 choices will literally increase your chances by 5 times.

Both brother's-in-law, the Father-In-Law, and myself got drawn for Moose in FLC! Missed out on Muley's in 46 though..

I will share a secret with you. While the Designated Zone on your tag says FLC, you have all of zone 50 and 43 to hunt, it is 43 and 50 ware most people get their moose. While FLC gives you the traditional style of moose hunting in the bush, the moose are fewer and hard to find. After getting my draw moose in a different zone, I tagged along with a good friend who was hunting in in the farm land of Zone 50. We would see 5-8 moose a day. Saw several 30-45" Bulls and 1 over 50.

Its the same as the lotto. Just b/c you bought a ticket last year it doesn't mean you are more likely to win this year. For moose there are zones with 5 tags with over 2k(super A) applying for its less than a half percent chance you get drawn. You have to think this draw stuff through. Its a fair system.

First year in Super A and me and 13 year old son drawn for Moose in 56.Will be his first Big Game hunt!!!!

I always put in for Max zones so I usually get drawn every 4-5 years for Moose.

To the guys complaining..... are you putting in for just one zone?.... because If you are that is really hurting your chances of getting a tag. Multiple zone applications is the way to get drawn....

I put in for 49 56 59 67 50 66.

Just to play devil's advocate;;);

Its the same for everyone, but that doesn't mean it can't be improved, changed or made into a different kind of "fair".

Preference points beyond "super A" is an option. Its hard to argue that the people who have been waiting the longest shouldn't have the best chance. The would be different kind of fair; 100 points is more than 95 points so get in line and wait your turn.What could be more fair than that? I'm pretty sure that my not having a pronghorn tag since the 90s isn't fair, especially seeing that I could pop one on the back 40 some days.

Then there's landowner tags. Most of the world considers the game on a person's private land to be his and that is logical since he owns everything else on his land. How is a system that can stop him from hunting his own land while allowing someone else to be fair? Robin Hood was a popular if fictional character, what with robbing the rich to give to the poor and all, but even his fans knew he was a thief. Is that fair?

Yup, the father in law lives in Zone 43, north of Melfort. Says he's been seeing moose running around already. We know where they like to move around, we won't have to go too far if we don't want to, and definately have the land area available if we feel we need to.
