Sask. cayote hunting

Okay So I got a rifle more suited to yotes that the 30/06 a Stevens 200 in 7mm-08 (They did not have one in 22-250) I intend to handload for it with 90/100gr bullets.
What is your thoughts on this cal v for yotes?

Well I was gonna use 100gr bullets will pelt damage be bad?

only one way to find out ;)

(I wouldnt expect the 100 gr hollowpoints to be too fur friendly, but give it a try.)

Another questin
What if Iused solids in the 7mm-08 Ishould have verry little pelt damage.
Now what problems will I enounter when doing this and is it legal?
Who make bullets in Canada and are they freely available?

bullets than dont expand are terrible choices for humane and quick kills, in my opinion.

better off to load a heavier soft point hunting bullet and try not to hit their shoulder

If your thinking at all about using solids... why didn't you just stick with your 30-06?. 30cal is one of the most versitile cal's. If your woried about overexpansion just use barnesX or failsafes, and the like.

I know a few people who do use fmj in the 30 size for coyote... They say it works well. I have only shot one coyote with a fmj... 7.62X39mm It was running away, in the back and out the front... just floped over and died.

ive also used 7.62x39 FMJ with no problems and 150 grn FMJ in my 300 ultra mag and it works very well. i agree with todbartell about not humane in the smaller 22 cal anyways but the 30 seems ok so far. im not sure about 7mm though.
Big JD.....i was informed today in another thread that anyone who takes running shot is "stupid" we must be bad people;)

good idea... i shot some yotes in deer season with my ultra and 180 nosler partitions(a couple were running.....sorry Dusty) and there was minimal damage. exit not much bigger than entrance and they didnt go anywhere

I have shot more game animals running, than not. This year on cronic wasting tags, 3 deer on the run... 1 standing. All of the running shots were one shot kills... and dam I pulled the still shot(I was also standing) A follow up shot to the neck finished that.
