Sask Forest Moose endangered?

Gov't of Canada indian agents issued script

Nasty thread drift here guys

They "gifted" land that they had no authority over....they stole it from 1st Nations....which makes the Metis's claim a joke!

By the way I could get my Metis card, but I am not a Hipocrit....I do not believe in preferential treatment because my anscestor married a 1st Nation?

I agree that there has been a nasty thread drift. No call for that. But there is a problem with moose being "loved to death" in much of their traditional range in Saskatchewan. It is not accidental that moose populations are thriving in the farmland where private ownership of the land prevents unlimited access. And in the boreal forest? It's textbook example of the "tragedy of the commons". If too many resource users have rights without responsibilities, the resource suffers. No surprise. I would like to see all of those resource users practise some restraint. Not just the ones who may be issued licenses. I personally seldom hunt moose in the SK boreal forest any more. The resource can't take the pressure, even though I can buy a licence.

There is a lot of misconception about Metis for sure. Metis does not mean simply that you have some native ancestry. To be Metis your heritage has to trace back to the Red River settlements where families were granted "script" which was land title. Subsequently stolen by white guys and governments.

Yes for sure...just like a couple of my buddies from south of Winnipeg. Their fathers got Metis cards because they played hockey with the right people... meant nothing those days other than Manitoba Metis Federation needed membership.

Whole things an effin crock of poo. I personally work with people that make a six digit income, own a business on the side but run around and shoot cow elk on their days off. Starvin family needs food. As a Metis individual to hunt outside of set seasons one should have to prove they make a living off the land ie: farming, ranching, commercial fishing, trapping etc... then go at it..

Metis dudes can flame me but right now FN and Natives are fighting over who will get to kill the last of the large ungulates. this is the 21st century by the way...

The same #### show that M12shooter talks about happened here in sask maybe 25 years ago. Cards easy to get and former white guys cleaning out pastures of big muley bucks etc. Lasted a year or two and was stopped.
There’s a couple of Metis communities up here, good people who buy tags. I don’t think they’re to blame for sask’s moose problem, topic of this thread.
I’m not sure if they stopped the free for all by reigning in rights or by defining who was Metis. I am not metis btw.
