Sask hunting calibres

The thing I don’t understand is limiting a bunch of the old cals and small but potent ones. .44-40 and 25-20 are more than capable in good hands. Is there a rash of wounded animals or what?

The guy who came up with that ridiculous rule was probably the same guy who tried to cancel archery mule deer.

He was probably pissed he was unsuccessful in cancelling it so he made up complete BS rules. There's probably going to be a few animals with .223 wholes in them running around this fall.

The fact that you can now shoot a moose with a .223 Rem doesn't mean you should but you know damn well some idiots will do it. It'll be the same guys who keep telling you they prefer shooting at running game because its "easier". The same guy who keep telling you the story of that coyote they killed standing, off-hand, at 400 meters and they know because they "measured the distance".

I see you have met my Father-in-law :)

I wrote letters to everyone I could think of and got a kiss off from all of them. F'ing bureaucrats.

Aww man that’s lame. I want to know why they are reinventing this. Nobody else has these strange limitations. Oh well. Time to go take down a moose with .223... it is legal afterall

How about some of you caliber officers that are Holier than thou worry about what YOU shoot big game with and let everyone else look after themselves. Anyhow, off to get the Lahti ready for the white-tails, is it enough?

That... is literally the entire meaning of this thread. The only folks in this thread telling people what to hunt with are Saskatchewan legislators. Reading, it’s not just for kids anymore! :d

I am in AB, if anyone wants to sell their Winchester Legacy in 357 I will buy it. :) Not to be the one to stir a pot, but were there not some politicians wanting to ban all handguns and their associated ammo? So...restrict the lawful hunting useage of said calibres, then that starts to chip away at availability which becomes a more expensive item as well? Ta Da... handgun ammunition dries up or to expensive to buy for most.

Whoever cooked up the caliber thing probably doesn’t even know there are handguns in this country...

Lol, It doesn’t take Rocket appliances to figure out I’m Tired and need sleep, can’t wait to get out of these track pants.

Yikes! Friend, you need a coffee or a nap...

This legislation looks to be an inappropriate bias against handgun cartridges... someone's personal agenda... not based on physics or terminal ballistics.

I used to say that the old law didn't make a lot of sense. I couldn't hunt with 5.56 but I could with a 9mm luger. So I guess the province decided to fix that and make it more convoluted. At least before the law was simple bigger than .23 legal. Whether or not you agreed with it or not.

This new law is stupid, plain and simple. My 44-40 M92 was legal one season, and then not the next. The 200 grain bullet from my 44-40 is a real killer on deer.
