Congratulations on a successful hunt and trophy. Nice pictures. Care to give a little information on your hunt. What camera used? Cell camera?

The camera was my canon is3. Its a 6 megapixel. I took that photo, not a game cam. I'd been watching that guy for a few days before taking him.

Yeah I was pretty excited. This is my first mulie buck. It's my first year being drawn.

Now if I can only bag a similar whitetail in 11 days....

He wasn't the smartest buck. I own the quarter of farmland that he was on. I wasn't that eager to end my mulie season on the third day, but he was there for all three days. He wasn't shy. I snuck up on him from downwind. I was probably within 50 yards. I shot him broadside through the vitals and he took five steps and layed down looking towards me. I thought I'd just let him pass quietly and waited a minute. I have heard of guys accidentally blowing off an antler when attempting a kill shot.

He actually jumped up when I approached 1 minute later, ran 20 yards, and then died. Adrenalin I guess.

He's a heavy feller. This was the hardest time I've ever had gutting out a deer.

I have never shot anything other than muskrats with my 300 win mag. They were in the wrong place at the wrong time. I was a little surprised that this buck didn't just drop dead immediately given the short range. The pills were factory 150 grain Remington core-lokts. I thought the shot was pretty well placed. Is this stuff crappy? I know it was cheap.

You may have been too close for the super kill, a 300 WM at 60 yards the bullet may have expanded about 50 yards out the other side LOL. Good work my fellow flat lander.

Congratulations on a very nice "first" muley buck!!
They can have an amazing will to live.
I shot a muley doe a number of years ago at 60 yards with my 270 and a 140 Accubond,
starting out at 3000 fps.
When the bullet hit, she headed out like a rocket.
Ran full tilt for 75 yards until she came to a barbed-wire fence.
Hit it so hard the wire "squawked" for several posts each way. Died right there.
Exit was the size of the botton of a soup can....lungs were mush. Go figure.
Enjoy the steaks, Eagleye.

Congrats on your first buck.
Nice fella for sure.
I usually give them ten or so minutes before I go near them after a shot.
If their down, rechamber and sit and wait a bit.
Never thought of packing a block with me for photos.........:D
Great post, thanks for sharing.
