I just moved to regina from bc and found out that I can not hunt here because I haven't lived here 3 months and all the leh. draws are done. I have heard there is some wild turkey and hogs I don't need a tag for? What do I need and where can I hunt these? cheers and good luck to all you who get to hunt....

Just get "Canadian resident" tags. They are a little more expensive to get a deer but that works.

Canadians not qualified as Saskatchewan resident can hunt whitetails, but that went to a draw system a few years ago, so he's missed it for this year. Unless there was a big enough surplus of tags over applicants, that might lead to them selling some over the counter. The other option for big game is to pay an outfitter and hunt guided.

Wait, what?? ....... Wild turkeys in Saskacthewan. I've been here 9 years and have never heard of this?

In my 31 years of being here, I seen 4 of them. (one tom, and three hens)That was about 4 years ago. The wildlife club had released some around here about 15 years ago. Most have died off though. I had to take a double look when I seen them.

also what do I need to start goose hunting?

A shotgun. It's just about that simple. When I shoot geese in Saskatchewan I pass shoot. I find a likely place near where the birds spend the night and shoot them as they lift off and head back to the fields...when the geese cooperate, that it. Some times they're too high, sometimes too far to one side or another, sometimes they just bugger off and go the opposite way. But it's less work than setting out a decoy spread (especially for snow geese) and you can get some awesome shooting, sometimes lasting several hours. I took my wife for her first goose hunt a couple of weeks ago and it's a great way to introduce them to hunting. Nothing like dragging your SO from bed in the no-kidding black dark and having her set up a spread of dekes to turn her off goose shooting. And if she won't go goose hunting, forget deer.
