The last three antelope I have taken were with a muzzleloader in the first week of Oct. A decoy can work at this time and the antelope are much easier to approach because of the rut even without a decoy. Another bonus is there are far fewer hunters around at this time.
If using a decoy try to get within 300 to 400 yards then set up the deke and wait for the buck to come to you. If not using a decoy it is possible to get within range, 100 yards for round ball MZ , by crawling or even walking at an angle so you are not directly heading to the antelope. Using this method seems easier on the satellite bucks who hang around on the edges of a herd.
