I completed the Firearm Safety/Hunter Education Program in Saskatchewan, in 1993. At the time, this is all I needed. I get the feeling that this may have changed though, will I be allowed to apply for a PAL with this, or do I need to take a new course?

If I do need the CFSC or whatever, where can I take this in Regina for restricted and non-restricted firearms?

Thanks.

Go to TNT Gunworks in Regina, tell them you would like to take the test. They will give you a ph# for a guy named Terry. He offers the courses or allows you to challenge both the non-restricted and restricted test.

I do belive he only does test challenges on tuesday nights.

I challenged for my R-PAL and it cost $60 (if memory serves), I then sent it in with my renewal to the CFC and upgraded/renewed for free.

Cheers!

Regina, SK.

It's been erm... carry the 4... 16 years since I've taken that test, is there some study material I can use to bone up without taking an entire course?

Thanks again guys :)

It was 20yrs for me..... I challenged the test 10yrs ago to get my PAL (when my FAC expired), and then again 1 yr and a bit ago to get my RPAL..... I didn't study and I had no problem passing either test.

In hind site I probably should have looked in a book before taking the tests. Its probably not a bad idea to review the material before taking a test.

Do you have your certificate or card? They keep records and can send you a new one if you don't. Fill out the application and send in your hunter safety card, voila you will get a pal shortly. I have done this with many of my friends (we all took hunter safety when we were little.)

I have my certificate:

So you're saying that I can get a PAL with this, without writing the CFC exam?

Depends on when you took your class, I took my "Hunter Saftey" in 1987.... I wasn't able to use it I had to challenge the test.... and I had an FAC and 3 firearms already!

I think if you took your "Hunter Saftey" after 1995 (I assume you took it in '98 as per your "moniker") you are ok with that to get your PAL...... I may be wrong.... You should call up the CFC to see what the requirements are.

Cheers!

Yeah I don't know about the specific cut off date where writing the test becomes mandatory. From personal experience I took my hunter safety and firearm safety course in Saskatchewan in 2002. I contacted the Saskatchewan office this year when I was going to apply for my PAL and the lady on the phone said I was covered. In the 'certification' box on the PAL application she had written down a number that correesponded to my file andthen proceeded to mail me the application. Everything worked out fine. No complications.
