Saskatchewan Hunters!

Just wear your blaze orange.

This one has been debated endlessly due to poorly written regs.. Your Regina office believes that everyone including coyote hunters and bird hunters needs to wear hunting colours during a deer season, while every other division I questioned believes that Regina is full of ####. That, BTW is a quote from the Saskatoon Division. :D Do you think that goose hunters are out laying in their decoys in red and orange suits just because Joe Nimrod is trying to whack a jumper?
I hedge my bets by wearing a white suit, but that's what I go coyote hunting in anyway. Never know when you'll meet a CO from Regina.

no huntin with deer hunters if you have no deer tag.as you could be charged
you need separation!!!don't get caught in the same truck ,tree stand ,blind as a big game hunter if you have no tag!!
don't hunt yotes with 23 cal. plus unless you have big game tag valid
CO might think your hunting deer too

You have to be kidding right? Charged with what? So you cant hang out with deer hunters while out hunting predators for fear of being "accused" of being a poacher?

You cant ride in the same truck as a deer hunter if you want a ride to go out and shoot coyotes? Do the Sask regulations say that, very unlikely.

Once again, you must be kidding? Who cares what a CO thinks as long as you are doing nothing illegal. Lots of people shoot yotes with a .243, does that mean that they are deer hunting just because of the caliber of gun they shoot?

If your claims are correct and stated in the Sask regulations, thats just crazy...

Just remember when it comes to the law, just because you are not doing anything illegal and it would never hold in court... don't forget you can still be charged and go through the hassles of going to court.
I have a buddy who is going to court tomorrow cause the CO says he shot a duck 1 minute past legal time. Did he? maybe... or was the COs watch and his not perfectly synced?

If your story is true and it was really "one minute" either way of legal shooting time, it will never hold in court, never.

If the charges do stick on those accusations, the lawyer your friend has is useless.

10-15 minutes after legal shooting time, well that is a whole other case...

We will see tomorrow I guess... At most he was shooting 2 minutes late. And the CO'd cell phone was off in it's time by 8 minutes, they tried charging him with 10 minutes late!

You can use any caliber you want, and the fish cops should know that. Who cares what they think. The rest is right. I routinely tell COs that I'm hunting coyotes just to get going faster, there's no licence to show or check. As soon as you say "coyote" he's done. Saves time.

it is sadly correct that you cannot accompany a big game hunter if you are tag less and hunting coyote. stupid law! you can however tag along if you do not have a rifle. so say three guys, two with and you without should be able to slip by. just say that you are not hunting, learning to scout etc....

which sort of eliminates the point of coming along in the first place. they just want to make sure your not poaching. there is also some bs about having to buy a trapping permit as well during hunting season.

There is a similar paralell with fishing. In Saskatchewan kids under 16 don't need a licence, but all the adults in the boat better have one. In practice a warden will probably leave you alone if there are less rods than people in the boat. This leaves me buying a licence for my wife every year, whether she has any interest in fishing at all. Regretably, as soon as you try to do a good thing like no licences for coyote hunters or kids fishing someone will discover a way to abuse it. We sometimes have to come up with "made in Saskatchewan" fixes that don't always make sense to those that don't know the story behind them.
I've seen posts from eastern members about what rifles are popular for tagged out deer hunters in the party. That's the exact thing that they are trying to avoid in Saskatchewan, having 4 riflehunters and one deer tag. (Or moose, Elk, antelope or whatever.) Perhaps this might clear up the reason for some of our rules, but remember that we don't have monopoly on stupid game laws.

How does it matter if there are two rifles and only one tag? In the end only one deer is getting killed so who cares who shoots it?
