Saskatchewan Mule Deer Population

I put in for antlerless in zone 9. Then bought an archery tag to void my option of getting an Earn-A-Buck tag.

As far as the big deer in my area, the two biggest I know of are mine and my cousins in early September. I heard rumors of a 200+ net typical deer but I haven't seen pictures yet.

Most years I don't have issues finding good quality deer. I've got enough lined up before archery season that I'm always able to find where one or two of them move to once the pressure is on. But not this year..

Lets hope this program comes to an end soon. Too bad about #29. I used to hunt there a lot years ago and it was a deer mecca. I was thinking of going back in the future but by the sounds of it the S'toon boys have cleaned it out.

One thing about Mulies is if they have 4-5 peaceful years with decent winters the numbers will climb fast.

This fiasco reminds me of what happened to the antelope years back when they implemented a wide open season rather than a draw. The numbers crashed. Some would say it was the coyotes but from my point when you see complete herds wiped out by piles of trucks chasing them around and around I'd say the bullets did most of the damage.

they just need some easy winters and not as many deer being taken and the numbers will bounce back.

ive take good deer in 29 and 10 before the cwd hunts so i got lucky there.

i have 2 anterless mule deer tags for zone 25. so i could carry a gun if my friend got drawn for trophy. i will not be using them and save 2 of the breeding stocks. may have to shoot a whiteail doe to eat.
