Saskatchewan pronghorn draw

Man am I excited as well! 10yrs waiting for this! Sunday we went out and did some scouting and knocking on doors. Got a ton of permission and saw quite a few antelope. Can't wait for Oct 1st!

Got my first archery antelope!
I went with the intention of decoying them but quickly discovered how difficult it is to manage a decoy, bow, rangefinder etc when the wind is blowing. I’ll try again in a couple weeks when my boys will be hunting with muzzleloaders. I think it will go better with 2 guys, I have a buck and a doe Montana.
The rut is just starting imo. Some haremed up but lots of singles cruising around, seems like good numbers to me.

Nice!

I was in Moose Jaw when the Antelope buggered off for points south, and they closed the season.

Just before I left the area, I came across a antelope doe with a "Brand New" baby out in a field. Cutest thing EVER! Wish I had pics, but it was just one of those moments!

Congratulations JB, fun isn’t it? The difference between a decent pronghorn and a giant is only a few inches over a dozen measurements. I certainly have a real hard time judging them.

Yeah it was a blast. My leg muscles are sore today from crouching and walking almost half a mile during the stalk. Raining and wet from belly crawling through the tall grass to get within a comfortable muzzleloader range was a lot of fun as well. Makes the hunt memorable when you have to suffer a bit lol.

I will score him tonight for the fun of it but it won't be anything crazy. They are hard to judge especially when you're inexperienced and aren't around them a lot. At any rate I'm super happy with him and he's off to the taxidermist Wednesday for a shoulder mount.

I watched a few videos and scored him. I've been scoring whitetail, elk, and mule deer for years and usually am very close to official score on them so I think I got it right with my pronghorn. Not that it matters too much anyway. Gross 75 6/8, Net 74. I don't know if that's decent or not but I'm happy with him.
