Just got my hands on a nice Sauer 202 in classic wood, wow! Feels great, the bolt closes like a Porsche door and it just ooses quality.

Now before I go and spend a sh$t load of money, I would like feedback. I was told to expect sub moa with most factory ammo and long barrel life witch I would certainly expect at that price. Is it as good as I think?

I've only seen a couple of them at a gunshow in Brandon. Very nice looking. There are a few here who have posted some beautiful pics of Colt Sauer's, so if that is any indication of quality, I'd be buying.

I have a 202 in .243 that I really like, beautiful trigger and smooth bolt. If you are looking for a set of the fancy EAW removable bases and rings I have a set for sale in perfect condition, reg $400 pm if interested, Cheers Roscoe

Sporteque still have a brand new Sauer 90 in 30-06 available. I'd grab a model 90 before buying a 202.

I have a Model 80, not Colt Sauer, just Sauer, probably the same. Some of them had issues with the set trigger, mine included, it wouldn't always #### on cycling the bolt. Sauer knew about it, but I had to buy a new one anyhow (non-set). I forget how much, but it was a few hundred. Not sure if they fixed the issue with the 90, which is essentially the same gun. I haven't heard about any issues with the 202.

Bearkilr, I was looking for a left hand... Thanks for the tip!

Think "ambidextrous". :D

Sauer 202 might be better than LH Sauer 200 alluminum receiver one I bought in late 80' for $1500 or so. That was a disaster, after couple of years of use the clamp in front of receiver that was holding the barrel BROKE OFF! Warranty from Sigarms was good for nothing....IMHO older Sauer 200 rifle and Sig pistols are overpriced junk.

Audet,

while sauer 200 or 202 in full steel action are good but they dont like cold (-10°c and below).

i ve seen actions frozen on high seat in Europe and i had one customer while guiding for caribous.

How good are they? Certainly not $3200 worth when there are any number of at least equal quality European classic FN, Husqvarna, BRNO, Mannlicher-Schoenauer, and others available for one-third to half that amount.

I can imagine that using to much oil on such a tight action can cause jamming at -10.

I will defenetly try it in extreme cold. No lack of cold where I am from...

I am a left hand shooter, not every shooter makes left handed rifles.

What I like best about the Sauer is that when I raise it to my eye, everything seems to lock in to place, it feels so perfect you would think it's a sin. The set trigger really closed the deal for me.

it s not oil but the mechanism but you ll learn it, especially if you can try on your own.

Was it the pin or the bolt that jamed? I was hoping to use the Sauer on winter caribou at some point... Fluting the bolt would probably prevent it from freezing shut though I kinde of like the way it looks now. I will certainly test it in extreme cold before I take it on a sub zero hunt. Thanks for the heads up.
