The Krupp steel barrel is developed in a lavish process that includes honing, cold hammer forging, tension relieving, twisting and finishing. This process is used for both hunting guns and competition rifles, and is the key to SAUER‘s legendary precision.
Barrels in a great variety of calibres are easily changed. Standardized handling and balance contribute to successful hunting.
Six massive lugs lock the bolt directly in the barrel concentrating the shooting force. This special design enables the hunter to choose either steel or light metal receivers. Weight and balance emanate from the centre of the gun.
The bolt opens smoothly at an angle of 60°. The set trigger automatically goes off set position when opening the bolt.
Having one function per button on the safety lock is -proven effective. You can either look at or feel the button on the upper wrist to verify that the rifle is in a safe posi-tion. The safety is released easily and silently right in front of the trigger. You will feel and sense the advantages of this safety system, but you will never hear them, because the mechanism works completely without sounds.
The direct trigger has an adjustable rear set function for perfect performance and a clean shot that breaks like glass in any situation.
The stock is divided into two parts and has no supporting function. Premium woods can be used without impairing the precision or stability of the rifle.
The S 202 is available as complete left-hand version -because a strong rifle belongs on the hunter‘s strong side.

When I was looking at one I phoned the main distributor for Canada, he told me TSE could order in a custom one if I wanted, spec'd from the Sauer site. I decided to go with a few Brno's instead of one Sauer, as I wanted CRF. Also I handled a Sauer in P&D, and the ejection port seemed a bit small to quick load a cartridge in a panicked situation (I think its fully enclosed to make the action stronger, as I was looking at the take down model) and I didn't like that. Smooth action though, and I still want a take down, that just wasn't it.
Thanks guys. Yeah, I perused the Sauer website, but I could have sworn that I once read that the locking lugs on the Sauer were unique in some way, retracting into the bolt body until the bolt is rotated into the locked position...or is that only the Blaser? I don't really care about barrel switchability, but the easy disassembly for compact carry is a real deal-breaker for me. And I know what you mean about the small ejection port, it doesn't look like top-loading is an option at all.
